LASH GROWTH
The Unbiased Truth

An EyeLash is a type of Hair. A hair is formed from a follicle in the skin. Each each follicle of hair has a predetermined growth pattern and follows a well known growth cycle.

The Hair Growth Cycle

Hair follicles grow in repeated cycles. This cycle can be broken down into three phases:

1) Anagen - Growth Phase
2) Catagen - Transition phase
3) Telogen - Resting Phase

Anagen Phase - Growth Phase

Approximately 85% of all hairs are in the growing phase at any one time.

Catagen Phase - Transition Phase

At the end of the Anagen phase the hairs enters into the Catagen phase, during which time the follicle shrinks temporarily.

Telogen Phase - Resting Phase

The resting phase follows the catagen phase. During this time the hair does not grow but stays attached to the follicle. Approximately 10-15 percent of all hairs are in this phase at an one time.

At the end of the Telogen phase the hair follicle repeats the cycle and enters the Anagen phase. The follicle begins to form a new hair. If the old hair has not already been shed the new hair pushes the old one out and the growth cycle starts all over again.

Yes, hair falling out is a normal process. The TRUE cause of Hair loss that leads to Baldness is actually Hair THINNING which is caused by DHT. DHT is the culprit in Hair loss- please see the Topic: Hair Loss to learn more.

Each hair repeatedly passes through these phases independent of the neighboring hairs and for longer periods of time:

Hair on the BODY below the neck has a 2-4 month growth cycle, while the Hair on the HEAD has a 3-5 year (36-60 month) growth cycle. Hair grows half an inch per month. Most people have a few "wild" hairs that can grow a little longer, but on average, the hair on the BODY doesn't grow over 2 inches. Pubic hair and underarm has a 3-6 month growth cycle, hence usually doesn't grow over 3 inches. Hair on the FACE has a 1-3 year (12-36 month) growth cycle. EyeLashes have a 2 month growth cycle and rarely grow over an inch.

Hair Follicles, like all cells of the body have Receptors. A few specific receptors are PGF2alpha and PGE which are ProstaGlandin Receptors that bind ProstaGlandins. ACCP Physicians along with scientists all over the world researched the effects of an FDA approved ProstaGlandin known as Latanoprost. *Latanoprost has been proven in multiple unbiased medical investigations to grow lashes. Latanoprost binds to the PGF 2 alpha receptor which signals the hair follicle to extend or prolong the "growth phase" which leads to sometimes 30% longer, darker and thicker lashes. . . naturally.

Results are visualized within (2) months, because of the growth phase of the lash- which is (2) months. ACCP physicians are the only nationally recognized physicians who specialize in the ART of compounding medicine that is unique to your needs. . . and if your needs consist of longer, darker, thicker and more beautiful lashes then please find an ACCP certified physician near you at PHYSICIAN LOCATOR link. If your physician is not certified by the ACCP, please ask your physician to visit this site or learn more about the National Physician Organization that specializes in unique innovations to best treat our clients. ACCP physicians are comprised of the nation's most respected cosmetic physicians from various medical fields.

Why do we need to continue the treatment for longer, thicker lashes, after seeing the results. It's due to the lash growth cycle of 2 months. The lashes fall out by design and will be replaced every 2 months with new lashes which also require the daily dose of fertilizer to extend their growth cycle. We take vitamins everyday for the same reason.
